If you haven’t heard of Andrew Norwell, you soon will. Norwell is about to become one of the highest-paid offensive linemen in football, parlaying four years in Carolina after entering the league as an undrafted free agent into a reputation as a consistent and effective interior blocker.

The team announced Monday it signed free agent linebacker Pernell McPhee. Terms of the deal were not disclosed. McPhee was ranked No. 93 on Around The NFL ‘s Top 101 Free Agents of 2018.

The 29-year-old McPhee spent the past three seasons in Chicago. The Bears waived the linebacker last month. McPhee compiled 14 sacks and 90 tackles the past three season.

If healthy, McPhee can boost a Washington pass rush that lost Trent Murphy in free agency. Staying injury-free was McPhee’s biggest problem in Chicago. He missed 12 games the past three seasons, including ending 2017 on IR with a shoulder injury.

He’s 24th on the PFT Top 100 Free Agents list, and the second-highest ranked er available (behind just No. 9 Ndamukong Suh).

It’ll be interesting to see if the Cardinals can do a deal with him, or if he draws interest elsewhere. The Panthers need help there, after presumptive starter Bashaud Breeland鈥榮 deal fell through last week because of a foot infection.
